Gdańsk’s Main Town was painstakingly reconstructed after the Second World War and presents a vivid sequence of gabled façades along the Royal Way. Long Market, the Main Town Hall, Artus Court, Neptune Fountain, Saint Mary’s Church, and the riverside crane introduce its Hanseatic wealth. The Museum of the Second World War and European Solidarity Centre confront the city’s decisive modern history.
Sopot has a different rhythm. Its long wooden pier reaches into the Baltic, while the beach, spa architecture, Forest Opera, and villas reflect its growth as a resort. The compact centre is easily explored on foot, and the wooded moraine landscape behind the town offers a quieter counterpoint to the seafront.
The Hel Peninsula is a narrow strip of dunes, forest, beaches, and settlements separating the open Baltic from Puck Bay. Hel town has a fishing museum, lighthouse, coastal defence remains, and a seal sanctuary focused on rehabilitation and education. Jastarnia and Jurata add traditional cottages, harbours, boardwalks, and water-sports culture. Seasonal trains and ferries can reduce traffic pressure.
