Corfu Town reflects centuries of Venetian, French, and British influence. The Old and New Fortresses frame a UNESCO-listed centre of tall pastel buildings, narrow kantounia lanes, arcades, churches, and small squares. The vast Spianada, Liston arcade, Saint Spyridon Church, museums, and Palace of Saint Michael and Saint George give the town cultural depth beyond its waterfront views.
The island’s interior is shaped by old olive groves and villages. Lakones looks over the coves of Paleokastritsa, while mountain settlements such as Old Perithia preserve stone architecture below Mount Pantokrator. Monasteries, walking paths, and small cafés provide reasons to leave the busiest coastal strips.
Corfu’s coast changes constantly. Paleokastritsa has rocky bays beneath green hills, the northeast has small coves and views toward Albania, and the west brings broader beaches and dramatic sunsets.
